LETTER FROM FOUNDATION LEADERSHIP
It is with great pride and heartfelt gratitude that we present the Destinations International Foundation Annual Report – our second annual report and a powerful reflection of what our global community can accomplish together. 2025 was another truly successful year for the foundation. With the generous support of our members and partners, we achieved our annual investment goals and directed nearly $700,000 toward 21 funded initiatives, including 97 scholarships supporting small destinations and global members. These investments are making a meaningful difference, strengthening organizations and supporting professionals at every stage of their careers and advancing the long-term vitality of the destination sector. Throughout the year, the foundation continued to advance the industry’s most important priorities: social impact, destination stewardship, global accessibility, professional development and advocacy. Through thoughtful investments and collaborative partnerships, we delivered tools, research, education and resources that help destination organizations navigate today’s challenges while preparing for what’s ahead.
This year’s report reflects not only the scope of that impact, but the collective generosity and commitment behind it. Every initiative funded and every scholarship awarded is the direct result of members and partners who believe deeply in the role destinations play in driving economic opportunity, community pride and global connection. We are incredibly grateful to our investors, board trustees, volunteer leaders and the Destinations International team for their continued engagement, guidance and belief in the foundation’s mission. Your support fuels our ability to respond, innovate and invest with purpose.
As we look ahead, we remain inspired by what this community continues to make possible. Thank you for your trust, your partnership and your continued investment in the future of our industry.
With sincere appreciation,
DON WELSH Executive Director Destinations International Foundation
CHELSEA DUNLOP WELTER Managing Director Destinations International Foundation

LETTER FROM BOARD CHAIRS
In 2025, the Destinations International Foundation continued its commitment to strengthening destination organizations worldwide through strategic investment, advocacy, research and professional development. By supporting high-impact initiatives, expanding access to education and fostering collaboration across markets and regions, the foundation further advanced the resilience and long- term vitality of our industry. This year marked another significant milestone as the foundation once again met – and exceeded – its annual investment goals. Equally important, we continued to broaden and deepen our community of investors, reinforcing a shared understanding that investing in the foundation is investing in the future of destination organizations and the people who lead them. Our work remains grounded in the foundation’s four priorities: Advocacy & Research; Professional Development & Talent Attraction; Social Impact & Welcoming Environments; and Global Engagement & Sustainable Destinations. In 2025, the foundation funded initiatives across all four areas, supporting research, scholarships, workforce development, destination stewardship and global accessibility efforts that directly benefit destination professionals and the communities they serve. Continued emphasis on research and insights ensured members had access to timely, relevant tools to navigate an evolving landscape. Through studies, reports and data-driven resources, the foundation helped destination organizations better understand their impact, strengthen community engagement and make informed, forward-looking decisions.
We also strengthened the visibility of the foundation’s work by further integrating a “foundation lens” across Destinations International communications, ensuring our collective impact and the generosity behind it was clearly shared with members and partners. Thank you for your continued confidence, generosity and support. Together, we are building something that truly matters for our industry and the communities it serves.

FOUNDATION PROGRAMS 30 UNDER 30 The Destinations International 30 Under 30 Program spotlights a cohort of rising professionals who are already making meaningful contributions to destination organizations and the broader travel and tourism industry. Each year, thirty individuals under the age of 30 are selected from around the globe, reflecting a wide range of backgrounds, experiences and perspectives that represent the future of the industry. Through curated learning experiences, peer connection and exposure to industry leaders, the program supports early-career professionals as they build leadership skills, expand their professional networks and engage in forward-thinking dialogue. Alumni of the program form a growing global community committed to collaboration, innovation and long-term impact within their destinations and organizations. The Destinations International Foundation plays a vital role in advancing this initiative by underwriting registration and travel expenses for each honoree to attend Destinations International’s Annual Convention. In 2025, the foundation also raised more than $11,000 in program support, reinforcing its commitment to cultivating the next generation of destination leaders. The foundation extends its sincere appreciation to founding program partner SearchWide Global.

SCHOLARSHIPS In 2025, the Destinations International Foundation invested nearly $130,000 to expand access, strengthen leadership pathways and support broad participation across the global destination community. Through a comprehensive scholarship strategy, the foundation funded 97 scholarships for CDME candidates, professionals from small destination organizations and international participants—reducing financial barriers to professional development and industry engagement. These investments were further amplified by an individual-focused 30 Under 30 fundraising campaign at the Annual Convention, reinforcing the foundation’s commitment to developing future destination leaders. HBCU In 2025, the Destinations International Foundation honored 12 HBCU Scholars representing five universities, continuing its commitment to expanding access and opportunity within the destination and tourism industry. The program was supported through a combination of external fundraising and direct investment, including $7,050 raised and an $85,000 foundation grant, ensuring sustained support for scholars while informing the next phase of the foundation’s scholarship strategy. Building on the success and learnings of the HBCU Scholarship Program, the foundation transitioned the initiative into Pathways to Success: Scholarship & Professional Development , a broader, more inclusive program designed to serve students pursuing hospitality and tourism management degrees across the United States and Canada. Pathways to Success expands the program’s reach by pairing tuition assistance with professional development, mentorship and industry engagement—strengthening talent pipelines and preparing the next generation of destination leaders.
